Hi, my name is Melissa Alegria-Galvan. I am currently a Reading Intervention teacher at Roberto J. Santos elementary. I have taught for 27 years. I have taught Pre-Kinder, 2nd grade, 4th grade, and 5th grade. During the summer, I have ventured to teach 1st and 3rd grade as well. I have a Master’s degree in Education Administration. I am bilingually certified. I have GT certification. I have been in Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies committees. I have been a representative for SBDM, DEIC. I have also been a CADRE for gifted and talented, Language Arts, and Reading. I have written some curriculum for Social Studies and Language Arts. I have been a cheerleading sponsor and track sponsor. I am very proud of all the accomplishments and accolades I have received throughout the years like Teacher of the Year, Golden Apple, Who’s Who Amongst Nation Teacher, Aplauso Award, Teacher of the Month. I have been a mentor for TAMIU, as well as first-year teachers. I am elated to continue my path as a teacher until I retire. Let’s have a wonderful and successful year!
